The idea
Most social apps decide what you see and in what order, and the company in the middle can change that whenever it likes. As Posted is a social app shaped like the one most people already know, with a profile wall, a friends feed, comments under posts and private messages, but with nobody in the middle. Your feed shows the people you follow in the order they posted. Nothing is boosted and nothing is buried.
How it works
- Built on Nostr, an open network where posts are signed by their authors and carried by many independent servers. As Posted reads from and writes to several of them at once, so no single server going down, or going rogue, takes your feed with it.
- Quieting is personal, not global. A post goes quiet in your feed when people you follow flag it. Nobody votes on what everyone else is allowed to see.
- If something is ranked, it says who ranked it. The Discover page uses an outside ranking service. The page names that service, and you can switch it off.
- We never hold your keys. Your identity is yours, and it works in any other Nostr app.
- A web app you can install. No app store can take it down.
What it's built with
TypeScript and Vite on the Nostr protocol. There is no back end of our own: the app runs in your browser and talks to Nostr servers directly. It's tested end to end with Playwright, driving a real browser.
